Marisol Cal y Mayor nació en el  Distrito Federal el 7 de febrero de 1984. Es acuario.

Se graduó con mención honorífica de la Licenciatura en Lengua y Literatura Inglesa en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, así como de la Licenciatura de Ejecutante en Danza Contemporánea en Contempodanza.

 

 Performer y coreógrafa, su trabajo explora la relación entre el artista y el público, requiere de la participación del observador con el fin de traducir las metáforas que integran su arte. Al explorar los límites mentales y psicológicos de su ser, reevalúa la violencia, el amor, los apegos, la seducción, el lenguaje, género y la sexualidad. Estudia los límites entre la belleza, lo grotesco, la sensualidad, la violencia, el amor y el dolor.

 

 

Colabora en La Máquina de Teatro como coreógrafa para obras de teatro y ópera como El Inspector dir. Clarissa Malheiros, Sueño de una Noche de Verano dir. Juliana Faesler y La violación de Lucrecia dir. Juliana Faesler y Clarissa Malheiros.

Es coreógrafa del ASVOFF México y del Mexico Fashion Film Fest, colaborando con artistas y diseñadores como Prince Lauder, Fukuko Ando, Diego Winburn.

 

En colaboración con el artista visual Eric Meyenberg y el compositor y filósofo Jorge Torres Sáenz,  co-creó la pieza interdisciplinaria Das ist kein Fleisch! Esta pieza responde a la imposibilidad y el fracaso que supone el tiento de hacer visible el dolor. Esta pieza se estrenó en el 2012 para el Festival Visiones Sonoras. Más tarde se presentó en el Laboratorio Arte Alameda como parte del Festival Puentes y en el 2013 para el FILUX.

 

En el 2012 creó Altagracia, compañía independiente de danza-teatro que busca narrar a través del cuerpo, historias íntimas y trascendentales, con toques de humor. En mayo del 2013, Altagracia estrenó en el CCU-UNAM su primer obra FRAGILANIMALA, tragicomedia coreográfica sobre la violencia de la seducción y la fragilidad del amor. En 2014 recibió el capoyo del FONCA, Jóvenes Creadores 2014-2015 para realizar su obra Bar Nostalgia.

 

Actualmente explora la veta creativa por medio de la meditación, y está creando su próxima producción Dark Matters y Disembodied.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Marisol Cal y Mayor was born in Mexico City on February 7th, 1984. She’s an Aquarius. Graduated with honors in Literature by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM and then got a degree in Dance and Performing Arts by Centro de Formación Profesional

Contempodanza.

 

As a Mexican performance artist, dancer and choreographer. Her work explores the relation between the artist and his audience, requiring the participation of the viewer in order to set in motion the metaphors that unveil the intricacy of his art. By exploring the mental and physical limits of his being, she reevaluates violence, love, attachements, seduction, language, gender, and sexuality. She researches the limits between beauty, grotesque, sensual, violent and pain.

 

 

As a choreographer, she has collaborated with artists and designers such as Fukuko Ando, Prince Lauder and Carla Fernandez. She performed and created the performance for ASVOFF Mexico and Mexico Fashion Film Fest.  Her first choreographic piece “Ave que nunca voló” was commisioned by the company Jóven Danza Capital and was danced premiered at the Teatro de la Ciudad.

She collaborates with La Máquina de Teatro, directed by Juliana Faesler and Clarissa Malheiros, with the choreography and movement in plays and operas such as An Inspector Calls (2014), Midsummer Night's Dream (2014) and The Rape of Lucretia (2013), El pequeño salvaje (2016).

 

Das ist kein Fleisch! is an interdisciplinary piece whom she worked in collaboration with the visual artist Eric Meyenberg and the composer  Jorge Torres Sáenz.  This co-creation responds to the imposibility, attempts and the failure of making visible the pain.  This piece was commitioned by the festival Visiones Sonoras (2012), then it was presented at the Puentes Festival (2012) as well as FILUX (2013).

 

In 2012 she created Altagracia, an independent dance-theater company that attempts to narrate, through the body, intimate and trascendental stories, with a touch of humor. Her first work, FRAGILANIMALA, a choreographic dramedy about the violence of seduction and love’s fragility, was performed for the first time at CCU-UNAM, following a season at UnTeatro Centro Cultural and then at the Museo Universitario del Chopo.  She received the FONCA  Jóvenes Creadores grant 2014-2015 to work in her last piece Killing Me Soflty. In 2015 she presented her play Bar Nostalgia, a contemporary cabaret mixed with circus and magic, researching the pleasure of violence.

 

Currently, she is interested in meditation as a creative experience, while producing her next performances Dark Matters and Disembodied.
